The series “Thinking fast. Thinking slow” was created shortly after my trip through Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Taiwan and Korea. In these works, I combine abstract painting with line art; however, in this work I left out the line art aspect and instead painted very often and in detail over some parts of the picture with white paint. I wanted to emphasize the phthalo-turquoise color even more and focus on the exciting pattern.
The title “Thinking fast. Thinking slow” describes my approach to the creative process. In order to paint the picture as intuitively and freely as possible, I splashed paint on the paper very quickly and impulsively in the first creative phase. In the second phase, I took a lot of time to paint the surface slowly. During this phase, I entered a very meditative state, a state in which I like to reflect and think about life.
